oAo is more than just showing up to race. It is intended to reflect respect of all racers, and the responsibility of a Team approach to racing.

Safe Performances are the standard oAo is striving for!

I expect the starts, and races, to be driven as if lives depended on it.  If you think you can make a pass, but it might be risky, think again, and wait for a better opportunity.  If you are being passed, you should have a feel for the driver making the pass.  If you lose sight of him in your mirrors, he is most likely beside you - LEAVE ROOM!

If you see a blue flag you DO have to allow a pass, or know its a lapping car. They should not have to fight you. This is NOT the case for blue flags in Qually. Everyone has equal rights to the racing surface in qual. it is expected though that drivers on pit out, yield to drivers on hot laps.

>> REMEMBER! Turn 1 / lap 1, is NOT where races are won.  <<

RACING INCIDENTS

They happen, they are most often not intentional but are often avoidable. Internet lag, and GPL's collision detection often exaggerate contact. Before you lose your temper, take a deep breath, and when the race is over talk about it in post race chat. or email the other driver. Please do not abuse another driver. It is after all still a hobby and meant as enjoyment. non of us make a living at this. yet ~ Concerns should include lap(s) to review, and be submitted within 48 hours of race end.

Drivers found to be at fault can appeal if done within 24 hours of ruling.

Drivers are encouraged to discuss any incident between those involved in a professional and respectful manner

Failing to come to an understanding it will be the responsibility of the wronged driver to bring the matter to the Race Steward.

Race Steward judgment will decide if penalties are to be assigned unless the he requests other opinions.

Probably the biggest wrong committed in online racing is the mental attitude of track 'rights' after spinning off. The bottom line is, when you go off ...

YOU FORFEIT YOUR RIGHT TO THE TRACK UNTIL YOU CAN BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN IT IS SAFE TO RE-ENTER

I can think of few worse things than a driver in haste trying to immediately regain the track, and causing a fellow competitor to crash, or even go off to avoid him.

This is simply not acceptable in oAo, and the sooner everyone employs the proper approach, the better everyone's race will be.

Re-entering the racing surface, and causing another racer to crash, will be an automatic one race suspension, if the other car cannot continue.

To avoid random or unequal rulings on collisions a Penalty Chart has been developed. It may not be complete or all encompassing, but it goes a long way to understanding what any infraction will be judged and
Balancing Driver Talent: DIVISIONS and GROUPS

Based on their GPLRank and/or previous performance history, Drivers are assigned into one of several Divisions. Divisions are further sub-divided in to three Groups, again based on performance.
Division D1 comprises Group 8, Group 7,Group  6 and Groups 5

Division D2 comprises Groups 4 Group 3 Group 2  and Group 1

Divisions race on alternate Saturdays.

Both Divisions race PROFESSIONAL mode without Shift-R.

Racing outside an assigned  Division is allowed under the following conditions:

D2 drivers may race in D1 but only for a missing teammate, and only if G3 or G4 or the team is in last place, as a 3d entrant.

D1 drivers may NOT race in D2

The season standings point system is weighted,  specifically for the purpose of keeping slower drivers interested and motivated by making it possible for them to figure into the championship chase. That's a good thing, both from the standpoint of filling out the grid and making people feel like they have a purpose for being there.

Faster drivers in a division want to make up the points from the difference in handicap that they face, they need to constantly push to the limit for higher finishing positions ... But then, they're the faster drivers -- they should be (and undoubtedly will be) doing those things anyway.

Once the season has started, anyone that improves his results, or an obvious ability improvement,  results indicate an ability to dominate (commish' discretion) that driver can be moved up a group. Similarly, a driver that was misclassified too high, can also be changed. Changes come from input of league drivers, are evaluated by commissioner and happen after each 4 races in Division schedules.
Balancing Chassis Performance
A unique feature of oAo is that no driver is limited in what chassis he may compete in. You will find some of the fastest drivers in GPL driver the Lotus or Eagle. oAo has a scoring system that awards not only points with regard to standings, but in economics, additional funds to the less desired chassis' that makes racing about more than just having the fastest car.
